The Black Bay Fifty-Eight is named after the year in which the first Tudor divers? watch, the reference 7924, was introduced. Waterproof to 200 metres, it was dubbed the ?Big Crown?. Among other aesthetic allusions to this famous historic watch, this model has a 39 mm diameter case, in keeping with the characteristic proportions of the 1955s.

Similar to the first-generation Tudor divers' watches to be waterproof to 200m (665 ft), it is fitted with the large winding crown.
